In addition to the previous lessons, our photography and art history class has also covered Pablo Picasso, Cubism, collage, parts of the camera, framing, the rule of thirds, points of view, depth of field and lighting. Students are currently learning how to use MS. Power Point to upload and manipulate photographs to create art and design pieces and much more.
February 5-9 Creating a Meme
Materials: Flash drive with uploaded photographs taken by student
Project: Students will work with a partner and follow clear step by step directions during class to create a meme on the school's laptop computers
Home Learning: Upload onto a flash drive at least 4 photographs from your camera that can be used for a meme. Review and study the Power Point vocabulary handout. Students who did not pass last week's vocabulary quiz, will take the quiz again February 5 or 6.
September 26 - October 3 Impressionism and Post-Impressionism with a focus on Vincent Van Gogh
Materials: Handouts, dictionary, pencil, pen, note paper, colored pencils or pastels
Day 1: Students will read handout on Impressionism and Post-Impressionism then do definitions, discuss article and answer questions.
Day 2 & 3: Students will read handouts on Vincent Van Gogh, do definitions, answer questions then do an art project based on Van Gogh's painting "Starry Night."
September 19 - 25 The beginning of color in photography
Materials: Handout, loose leaf note paper, pen, dictionary, colored pencils
Day 1: After reading a handout with historical information on the introduction of color in photography, students will define given vocabulary and then answer the questions at the end of the reading.
Day 2 & 3: Students will begin adding color to a black and white photograph similar to the the early Japanese photo colorization technique.
Home Learning: Continue taking photographs to document the aftermath of Hurricane Irma.
